Tony Parkes’ story starts in 1986 with his family purchasing an eight-hectare block that was part of a 42-hectare degraded ex-dairy farm at Binna Burra, north eastern NSW. Tony was living in Sydney at the time and was planning early retirement from a long career in corporate finance. The purchase of the property was the tangible expression of a sea change dream.
The BCT is opening its conservation management program in an additional seven regions across New South Wales. The BCT works with willing landholders to conserve important biodiversity or habitat for threatened species in priority investment areas across NSW.
BCT is entering 34 funded agreements with willing landholders across New South Wales as a result of 3 Conservation Tenders this year. These cover about 11,200 hectares and are worth a total of $32.5 million, provided to landholders through annual payments for the term of the agreement, and consist of:
