Webinar Recordings

Missed out on a webinar? You can catch up by watching the recordings below.

The many thousands of farms dams scattered across regional NSW have an important role to play in enhancing biodiversity when managed appropriately.

Australian National University and Sustainable Farms ecologist, Dave Smith, shares his research findings and discusses why enhancing farm dams for agricultural use can also benefit habitat and water for native species.

For more information about farm dams see our Managing farm dams in private conservation areas guide for NSW landholders.

A conservation grazing plan helps to promote native species diversity by encouraging grazing-sensitive plants to increase in abundance and distribution over time.

In this webinar we discussed when and where conservation grazing is appropriate and how landholders can implement a successful grazing strategy.

Our senior ecologist Joel Stibbard was joined by western NSW graziers, Col and Bev Hamilton, wo shared their conservation grazing story. Regional conservation officer Glen Walker and ecologist Thomas Munroe, both from the BCT's Dubbo office, also joined the discussion.

For more information about grazing on conservation agreement sites see our Conservation Land Management Guidelines where we have a number of resources to support grazing strategies.

As the UN declares the 2020's as the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration, the BCT has developed guidelines, in consultation with Greening Australia, to help landholders appropriately plan for regeneration, and where beneficial, implement revegetation works on their properties.

Watch as we discuss the Guidelines for assisted regeneration and revegetation and highlight how they are being applied by landholders with a BCT Agreement and what we have learnt thus far. This webinar also includes a Q&A session.

The South East team of the BCT was invited to do a webinar as part of a special lunchtime series by the Department Of Planning and Environment to celebrate the Biodiversity Month in September.

Watch this webinar to know about the BCT’s work and current programs, private land conservation in NSW, our partnership with Landcare NSW, how we support our landholders, and to discover something new about our koala program.

Join Dr Jessica Walsh from Monash University, PhD candidate Clare Bracey, and BCT Senior Ecologist and bird expert, Tiffany Mason, as they discuss how citizen science data can help scientists gain better understanding of woodland birds, the value of private protected areas in conservation efforts, and the inspirational work the BCT landholders are doing to conserve woodland birds on their properties.

Join Dr. Mason Crane from the BCT as he discusses how to best monitor fauna on your property with remote cameras.

A recording of the webinar co-hosted by the BCT and Australian Museum(AM) to celebrate FrogID week in November 2021.

Curator of Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Biology, Dr Jodi Rowley talks about the importance of frogs and the threats they currently face, why we should carefully manage their habitats, and how you can use the AM's free FrogID app to help monitor biodiversity on your land.

Installing artificial hollows in the form of nest boxes, salvaged fallen hollows, stag relocation or chainsaw hollows can provide extra habitat for threatened species that depend on hollows for nesting or roosting.

We discuss the benefits of artificial hollows and the principles of installing the most appropriate kind for different hollow-dependant species and  site conditions.

Includes information on when artificial hollows funding is supported by the BCT.
