Minister Upton announces new conservation tenders to open in October and November

The BCT is opening its conservation management program in an additional seven regions across New South Wales. The BCT works with willing landholders to conserve important biodiversity or habitat for threatened species in priority investment areas across NSW.

Minister Gabrielle Upton, the BCT Director Regional Delivery, Alan Goodwin, and one of our landholders, discuss the benefits of the program. Read the full media release.

The BCT will be seeking expressions of interest (EOIs) from private landholders located in Albury, Barwon, Cootamundra, Lismore, the Northern Tablelands, Orange and Wagga Wagga regions.

EOIs for the next round of tenders for the program open on 22 October or 12 November, depending on the property’s location. We'll update the website with specific details as they become available.

This builds on the 34 funded agreements the BCT is entering into with landholders across New South Wales as a result of previous tenders earlier this year. These cover about 11,200 hectares and are worth a total of $32.5 million, provided to landholders through annual payments for the term of the agreement, and consist of:

  • 12 agreements in the Northern Inland; worth $4.7 million; covering 2,700 hectares,
  • 11 agreements in the Murray-Riverina region; worth $13.1 million; covering nearly 5,000 hectares, and
  • 11 agreements in the Central Tablelands region; worth $14.7 million; covering 3,500 hectares.
