I have an Existing Agreement
If you have an existing agreement, including a conservation agreement under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974, trust agreement under the Nature Conservation Trust Act 2001, registered property agreement under the Native Vegetation Conservation Act 1997 and BioBanking agreement under the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995, these agreements will be carried over and remain in place. This means that properties protected under a permanent conservation agreement will continue to be protected in perpetuity.
If you have an existing wildlife refuge under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974, or a termed registered property agreement under the Native Vegetation Conservation Act 1997, these agreements will also be carried over and remain in place.
Landholders with an existing Biobanking Agreement, will transition to be managed by the BCT.
Landholders who also have an existing agreement may be able to ‘apply’ for an agreement under the new Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, although they are under no obligation to do so.
If you have questions about your existing agreement please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or the Environment Line on 1300 361 967 or 02 9995 5000.
